Tulips: THE hallmark of spring and of the Netherlands! After I finished a crocheted jar-cover for my children, I also wanted hook one for myself. Well, I wanted to redo the cover again to check the pattern and then I thought ‘I’m going straight for a crocheted jar for myself’.  On  Pinterest  I had already seen a nice stitch in a blanket that created such cute flowers. I wanted to use those flowers – they look like tulips (or even like roses) –in this pattern for a crocheted jar-cover. I want to share the crochet pattern for free,  so that you can also crochet such nice tulips  and get some spring in your house!

Necessities

  • crochet hook 5mm
  • leftover stylekraft special DK
  • Leftover (cotton) yarn for the tulip
  • small Olvarit jar (4 months snack)
  • stitch marker
  • darning needle
  • scissors

Pattern

Crocheted a pot:

Crochet with needle 5mm and stylecraft special DK color white as follows:
Make a magic ring. Crochet the pattern in rounds

Row 1. Hook 7 single crochet (SC) into the ring.
Row 2. Crochet 2 single crochet in each stitch = 14 single crochet (SC)
Row 3. * 1 single crochet(SC), 2 single crochet (SC)in 1 stitch * repeat from * – * until the end of the row = 21 single croc het (SC)
Row 4. * 2 single crochet(SC), 2 single crochet(SC) in 1 stitch * repeat from * – * until end of the row= 28 single crochet (SC)
Row 5. * 3 single crochet, 2 single crochet(SC) in 1 stitch * repeat from * – * until end of round = 35 single crochet(SC)
Row 6. Crochet 1 single crochet(SC)= 35 single crochet(SC)
Row 7. Crochet in the back loops, in each stitch 1 single crochet(SC)= 35 single crochet(SC)

Row 8 to 14. Crochet 1 single crochet(SC)= 35single crochet(SC)
In the last stitch of round 14 you attach a new color to the last strike: green

Row 15. Crochet 2 chain, skip 1 stitch and * crochet 1 half double crochet (HDC)1 chain 1 half double crochet (HDC)in the same stitch, skip 2 stitches *
Repeat from * – * until the end of the row. In the base of the beginning of 2chain, work 1 slipstitch (sl.st.), 1 chain.
Now take both the current thread and the new color on top of the first crocheted stitch. From here you go crochet with the color pink.

Row 16. make a chain of 4, crochet between the 2 half double crochet (HDC) of the previous row 4 double crochet (DC), the first one does not finish completely.
You do this as follows: pick up your thread, insert, pick up your thread, pick up your thread and pull the thread through 2 loops, pick up the thread and pull the thread through 1 loop, now you have 1 not completely finished double crochet (DC) .
Now work 2 more double crochet (DC) as usual, hook 1 double crochet (DC), but with your last cancellation, you now also pass through the last loop on your needle. You have now 4 double crochet (DC) in 1 stitch.
You can crochet a cluster of 4 double crochet (DC) between every 2 half double crochet (HDC) from the previous row (where the 1 chain is) as described above.
When you have arrived at the beginning of 4 chain, you have to crochet between the last 2 half double crochet,  3 double crochet as described (change from color back to white) and slipstich (sl.st.) in your start 4 chain. This now counts as a double crochet (DC)

Row 17. hook 2 chain = 1st single crochet (SC), * hook on the 4 cluster stick 1 single crochet (SC), hook between the clusters on the 2 chain, 2 single crochet (SC) *
Repeat from * – * until the end of your row = 35 single crochet (SC)

Row 18. * Crochet 2 single crochet(SC) together, crochet 5 single crochet(SC) * repeat from * – * until the end of the row
= 30 single crochet (SC)

Row 19. * Crochet 2 single crochet (SC) together, crochet 4 single crochet (SC) * repeat from * – * until the end of row
= 25 single crochet (SC)

Row 20 and 21. Crochet 1 single crochet(SC) = 25 single crochet (SC)

I hope you like the pattern and maybe you will also crocheted a pot! Also nice as a gift for example the teacher, who can use a number of pens and pencils! But what you do with it, I will not decide for you 😉

Love,
Zusjeknus
